Do I need to install a decal?

A TReO decal gives you access to promotions and discounts, helps ensure your bills are correct and keeps the TReO system efficient and electronic. Each decal is unique and automatically identifies your vehicle to the toll system with best-in-class accuracy.

If you have a decal, we most likely won't need to manually review images of your licence plate. This helps keep our costs low and allows us to keep tolls as low as possible for our customers. So while we encourage you to install a decal, it's not required to cross the Port Mann Bridge.

Another bonus of installing a decal and having a payment method on file is that you can manage your Golden Ears tolls through your TReO account, with a combined bill. It's the simplest way to cross and pay tolls on both bridges, plus you'll be sure to qualify for Golden Ears Bridge's lowest transponder rate. 

Do I need my decal before I cross the bridge?

We encourage you to install a decal, but a decal is not required to cross the Port Mann Bridge.

However, if you are crossing the Golden Ears Bridge and are signed up for combined billing, you will need a TReO decal installed on your vehicle and a payment method on file to take advantage of the lowest rates.

Do I need a new decal if I bought a new vehicle?

Yes. You won't be able to transfer your decal onto your new windshield. The simplest way to get a new decal is by updating your account online.

If you sold your previous vehicle, you need to delete it from your online account - this action will automatically cancel your old decal. Next, you need to add your new vehicle and licence plate to your account. A new decal will automatically be sent to you when you add a new vehicle and select TReO decal as your tolling method. For a quick tutorial on how to add and delete vehicles from your account, click here.

If you are a regular Golden Ears Bridge driver and you are signed up to manage your tolls through your TReO account, you'll need to pick up a new decal in person so you can install it right away and continue receiving the lowest rates.

Do I need a new decal if I change my licence plate on my current vehicle?

If you are a Port Mann Bridge driver, your current TReO decal and the new licence plate number will automatically link after you cross the Port Mann Bridge. Remember, if you update your licence plate you will also have to update your account online. To do this, you'll have to delete your vehicle and re-add it with the new licence plate. Using your online account is the easiest way to keep your information up to date, but you can also call TReO and a Customer Service Representative will be happy to help you.

However, if you are a regular Golden Ears Bridge driver and you are signed up to manage your tolls through your TReO account, you'll need to pick up a new decal in person so you can install it right away and continue receiving the lowest rates. 

Do I need to cancel my old decal and order a new one if I replaced my windshield or damaged my decal?

If you replaced your windshield or damaged your decal, you do not need to call TReO to cancel your old decal. Simply order a new decal online. Login to your account and select My Vehicles & Decals. Then click on the green box that says Request Decal.

If you are a regular Golden Ears Bridge driver and you are signed up to manage your tolls through your TReO account, the system will recognize that a replacement decal has been ordered for your vehicle, so you can continue travelling while you wait for your decal. However, once you receive your decal in the mail, you'll need to install it right away to continue receiving the lowest rates.

My new decal isn’t working. What do I do?

If your decal is not being read by the TReO toll system, please order a new decal. It could be we have sent you a faulty decal, or that your vehicle requires a headlight decal (please see question below). You can request a replacement decal online. Login to your account and select My Vehicles & Decals. Then click on the green box that says Request Decal.

Do I need a windshield decal or a headlight decal?

A windshield decal can be used for most cars. However, you will need a headlight decal if your car has a metallic windshield. Please contact your car manufacturer to find out if your vehicle has a metallic windshield. If you need to order a headlight decal or if you are not sure, please call or visit us for assistance.

You will need a headlight decal if you have a motorcycle.

My vehicle was stolen. What do I do?

If your vehicle has been stolen, please call TReO Customer Service right away and provide us with your police report number. You will not be required to pay any tolls incurred as a result of unauthorized use.

I received a new decal in the mail even though I already have a decal on my windshield. Why?

You received a new decal in the mail because our system has noticed your current decal might not be working correctly. Please remove your old decal and install your new decal as soon as possible.

If you are signed up to manage your Golden Ears tolls through your TReO account, please install your new decal right away to continue receiving the lowest rates.

Do I need to add my decal number to my TReO account? Is it the same process for Port Mann and Golden Ears?

No, you do not need to add your decal number to your TReO account. Your decal will automatically link with your licence plate number after you cross the Port Mann Bridge.

If you are signed up to manage your Golden Ears tolls through your TReO account with Combined Billing, your decal will automatically link with your licence plate number after you drive over either bridge.

The headlight decal doesn’t fit on my motorcycle’s headlight. What do I do?

Place the decal on your motorcycle's windscreen, in the centre and two inches from the bottom.

Do I need a decal to get the HOV discount?

Yes. To be eligible, you need to register with TReO and install a decal on your vehicle. You'll receive a 25% discount during peak periods (Monday to Friday, from 6:30am to 8:30am, and 4:00pm to 6:00pm) when you use the HOV lanes at the toll point.

If you don't have an account yet, it's easy to register online. When you add a new vehicle and select TReO decal as your tolling method, you'll automatically be sent a decal. Be sure to select (click the box) "Register this vehicle to be eligible for the HOV discount." When you receive your TReO decal, please install it as soon as possible. You will find instructions for installing your decal here.

If you are already registered but you need a decal, login to your account and select My Vehicles & Decals. Then click on the green box that says Request Decal and follow the instructions. Next, return to My Vehicles & Decals and click Edit. Select (click the box) "Register this vehicle to be eligible for the HOV discount.

If you already have a decal installed, simply select My Vehicles & Decals and then click Edit. Be sure to select (click the box) "Register this vehicle to be eligible for the HOV discount."

How do I know if my decal is properly linked to my licence plate number?

To check whether your decal has linked to your licence plate, login to your online account and look under the My Vehicles and Decals tab. You'll be able to see under TReO Decal # whether the decal number has been associated.
